About me
Felipe Mercado, EdD, MSW, PPSC, CPAT is a revolutionary educator, trauma-informed systems architect, and transformative healer with over 20 years of leadership across education, social work, and counseling. Currently a Professor of Social Work at California State University, Fresno, Felipe’s lived journey—from homelessness and incarceration to institutional leadership—fuels his mission to create healing systems rooted in compassion and justice.
He is the founder of Wise Souls LLC, where he designs frameworks that bridge neuroscience, Indigenous wisdom, and soulful, strategic practice. Trained in clinical therapy and ceremonial care, Felipe also supports individuals in trauma recovery and integration work, drawing from both Western models and ancestral healing traditions.
He is the bestselling author of A Journey to Compassion and the forthcoming Rethinking Education Together: How the Wise-Compassionate Framework Transforms Student Success (coming July 2025).
